How often should I update my will?

We recommend reviewing your will every 3–5 years, and after any significant life event -marriage, separation, birth of a child, or changes in financial circumstances.

A testamentary trust is established by your will and comes into effect after death. It can provide tax advantages, asset protection, and greater control over distributions -particularly useful for families with minor children or significant assets.

The estate is distributed according to a statutory formula under the Administration and Probate Act 1958 -which may not align with the deceased’s wishes and can create delays and family disputes.

An executor administers your estate after death -obtaining probate, identifying assets, paying debts, managing tax obligations, and distributing the estate to beneficiaries.

Yes. Eligible persons can make a family provision claim if the will does not adequately provide for them. We draft wills with these risks in mind and advise on strategies to minimise successful challenges.
